Tom's Adventures...
to be continued

Picture
When Zee said she’d post up other people’s pics and comments on her page I decided to go back through my pics on Google and see what I had .. it’s been fun looking back and remembering some places I’ve been and being reminded of some of the feelings that keep me going back, going further.. so this is me, reminiscing ..

Now, I understand my travels and adventures are nothing compared to some others, but

comparing sucks anyway so let’s just skip that part. This is just a way to share something I enjoy.

I had been away from motorcycles for a long time, living the family man life, not much time or resources to be spent selfishly.  That life surprised me and I’m very thankful that I got to live it. But now I’m a little older .. and I feel very blessed to be able to get out on my own now and then.  The feelings of peace, joy and exhilaration are hard to explain to some others, but, man ….

So after 20 years or so without a bike, I got this old Victory in February of 2014

Didn’t take me long to get to work on that tank … Don’t reckon I’m anyone’s Road Dawg and them claws had me nervous every time I sat down!
Had someone spray the tank for me, and one Time I had someone put her on a dyno to tune her right for straight pipes, but other than that I’ve done all the wrenching.  Mostly due to financial constraints, but glad to say I’ve been her primary caregiver.
Local back roads are my go to for keeping sane.

The old road dawg got replaced with something I feel more of a connection with ..
And I customized the rear rack with a coke tray so I could leave the pickup at home more often.. (first one was red, but I found a black one so I could be cool .. ;)

Soon enough, the camping bug hit … this was my first trip, at Vet Jam, a local music fest and veteran event.  Cheap Walmart tent good enough for me.

Next was a trip to the Shenandoah Mountains to meet up with some family I hadn’t seen for too long.  This was my stopover in Tennessee

That night a pretty strong storm ripped through, tent was flat down on me for a bit, but when the winds let up it popped right back up … some limbs came down nearby.
Then I made it to the Shenandoah Mountains .. on a bike … man, the combination of mountains and motorcycles is something hard to describe.
Best camping trip ever … Sue and Paul brought extra gear and we were so set up ..
