The Moto Multiverse - A FREE Motorcycle-Exclusive Social Media Site
"Oh joy, yet another motorcycle-themed website trying to get me to use it", you're likely thinking. There's quite a few sites popping up in recent years intending to get riders to ride together or pay for the app/merch. Instead of telling you "trust me, this one is different", I will explain everything about the site with as much honesty and transparency as humanly possible so you can make an informed decision.
Let's start by imaging the Moto Multiverse as a condo complex where each resident (group owner) gets to make their own house rules, run the group as they see fit, and have super useful tools to make it easy. The whole goal is to get as many motorcycle groups and their members to come over to build a diverse, supportive, and passionate motorcycle community that's independent of political stigma and ads.
As a Facebook motorcycle group owner and active user myself, of Bunk-a-Biker and Minimalist Motorcycle Vagabonds, there's many tools on the Moto Multiverse that I have been wanting from Facebook for years that I'm now enjoying. Some examples are listed below.
The Benefits:
1. There's customization options for what permissions members/moderators/admins/owners get. (pic.1)
2. The ownership title over a space is protected but can be transferred.
3. There is Wiki pages built in for any number of stored information for your membership usage. (pic. 4)
4. There's a setting to have the group members see the "about section" every time they visit the group instead of the stream, making it easy to keep them updated. (pic. 7)
5. You can choose which notifications you get, they are listed chronologically, and can all be marked as "seen" with a couple clicks. Plus, no glitches. (pic. 9)
6. There's a shared calendar over the entire site so it's easy to let people know about upcoming events without constant marketing. (pic. 6)
7. There's no algorithms deciding what to show you and no ads constantly in your face.
8. No data collection, ability to use any name you prefer, and no requirement to prove yourself.
9. Custom text features like bold, italic, strike-through, quotes, in-paragraph photos, tables, bullets, larger font. (pic. 10)
10. The site is exactly the same on desktop as on all mobile devices.
Below is a few screenshots showing the custom setting options.

FAQ and How to Use the Site
Q: Why was the Moto Multiverse created?
A: I, Zee Traveler, have been running motorcycle communities based on Facebook for 4 years and it's something I'm tremendously passionate about. With everything happening lately on Facebook, MeWe, Parlor, Instagram, and Twitter, people are getting fed up of social media and quitting. One person leaving social media, as a whole, means there's one less rider in our shared communities who brings experience, lessons, questions, and content to the collective, which is simply disheartening. What I aim for this site to be is a place for those who want the motorcycle community but not the social media or regulations from other sites enforced on all. The right to make your own rules for your own spaces. My personal reason is it's a safe place for Bunk-a-Biker and Minimalist Motorcycle Vagabonds to flourish.
Q: How much does it cost to use the Moto Multiverse?
A: It's free! We do ask for donations if you want to support the network, but it is not required.
Q: What is the Moto Multiverse?
A: It is similar to Facebook in design, with a personal feed, profile, and groups, but it doesn't have "Community Standards" hanging over every user's head, it's motorcycle riders/groups only, and has two rules; no politics and be respectful.
Q: Who manages the Moto Multiverse?
A: Zee Traveler manages all of the soft creating such as the name, graphics, marketing, promotions, and all the written word for it. The wonderful Al Gartner manages the site from the technical aspect, I.E. the server, updates, security, email services, etc.
Q: How was the Moto Multiverse created?
A: It is currently privately hosted by Al and Zee on a digital server from DigitalOcean and running the HumHub open source software. It sounds simple but if it wasn't for Al's background in tech and security, it wouldn't run as smoothly as it does.
Q: Why should you use the Moto Multiverse?
A: Besides the fact that it's motorcycles only, free to use, and gets away from the polarization of Big Social Media platforms, it has a lot of features that Facebook lacks. The features are listed above.
Q: Is it safe to use?
A: I would say so. Even those of us with server access can't see your password as it's encrypted.
Q: What are the downsides to using the Moto Multiverse?
A: Simply put, 1. You're putting some trust in Zee that it won't turn to pay-to-play. 2. There's no app for your phone so it has to be used in a web browser. 3. You have to check it for notifications instead of them being shoved at you through an app. (though you can turn on email notifications.) 4. You can't upload videos directly to the site.
Q: Is there going to ever be a limit to how many members can join or how many photos can be uploaded?
A: No, we are prepared to upscale as needed to store all information required for expansion.
Q: Will there ever be a mobile app?
A: At this moment it's not a priority. Apps have to follow strict guidelines and cost quite a bit of money, while our focus is freedom and affordability for the long run.
Q: How do you use the Moto Multiverse?
A: Below is a basic video I made to help new users navigate the site via mobile. When you join, there's a built-in tutorial that will also take you through everything you need to know.
Expanding on that, here is the terminology used on the site:
Stream - This is like your newsfeed from Facebook. There is one for your profile and one in each group that shows recent activity.
Followers - You can follow any member listed in the master directory which will show their personal content on your dashboard.
Spaces - Facebook groups.
Conversations - Messages between users through the site.
Dashboard- This is your home page to view posts from your spaces (groups) and people you follow.
