California
The Golden State
2019
I stayed in San Jose thru the end of 17, when I wrecked in December which halted my plans to ride south. Which I was healing up, I rode some locals roads. These photos are from Coastal Highway 1 from Marina to San Gregorio, Big Basin State Park, Mount Umunhum, San Jose Egyptian Museum, Alcatraz, and San Francisco. San Jose has become a home base for me that I really enjoy being in.
2018
After I returned from the Philippines, I stayed at a friend's in San Jose where I worked for the month of June. Since I made money, it was summer, and nothing was on fire yet I decided to re-visit some of my favorite places in the country and see some friends before my big trip to South America. I did 6,000 miles in July, visited 6 US National Parks and 4 Canadian National Parks. Out of all the new places I checked out, Lassen Volcanic National Park and Sonora Pass stole my heart. I intend to return and visit them as often as I can.
2017
In September, California became my 39th state and quickly became one of my favorites. I did so many things that it's hard to summarize my time there in a couple sentences. I started by finding one of my most fondly remembered campsites, hiked a couple caves in the Lava Beds National Monument, rode Highway 96 (Klamath River Highway), visited a drive-thru redwood tree, camped with friends in the Eldorado National Forest, presented at the Horizons Unlimited Mariposa Traveler's Meeting, and rode Tioga Pass thru Yosemite a couple days after it snowed. I returned after a month where I spent November in a friend's cabin in the Stanislaus National Forest, met a friend in Sacramento for a few days, got my first vagabond anniversary tattoo in Ukiah, visited Death Valley and then Joshua Tree before heading to Dallas, TX for work.
