Presently on Beartooth
Leaning right, down thru a long sweeping curve that reminds you of a gymnast’s ribbon, where your mind and soul are together as you throttle out of the turn. For a few brief seconds you get to stand your bike up straight so you have the chance for your eyes to wander out over the magnificent views of the snow-spotted mountains, forested valleys, and the only road cutting into them. Your distraction can’t last for too long as a hard lean left approaches and around the next bend you speed on the perfectly smooth pavement. Reaching higher and higher until you stop! At the Rock Creek Vista on the infamous Highway 212. Presently, you dismount your mechanical steed to walk down the short sidewalk that was cut around the rocky cliff until you come to a view from the top of the world. The scenery takes you into the past, where you imagine what life would be like on a real flesh-and-blood steed and trekking your way into uncharted wilderness to find a place to settle. What a pioneer life would be like; the constant work to have food and fire for the winter, the dangers from animals, avalanches, floods. You imagine the wonder of being the first people to set eyes on these mythical woods and peaks, then trying to survive in them. The thrill of these thoughts propels you into the future, where anticipation for the plans you have for yourself grow. There’s nothing but optimism and general good-will surging around your soul, when you know that you’ll always end up where you need to be. The universe always brings you to those much needed lessons when it’s time and that’s when you come back to the present. You walk back to your motorcycle and continue on the spectacular road known as Beartooth.
